Human full thickness skin made using CAP (cell assembly programming). Made on transwell filter inserts 6mm diameter. Total of 12 wells. Made from primary human keratinocytes and fibroblasts. Differentiated epithelial layers by subjecting the top to an air liquid interface. Maximizes interaction between epidermis and dermis by not including any added collagen matrix.
CAP Skin
CAP skin is a full thickness human skin produced by the large scale interaction of cells, giving cells the greatest potential to localize where they should be according to their programming. Allows the fibroblasts subpopulation to localize near the epidermal/dermal interface. Unlike layered skin models (ex. Mattek) where fibroblasts are breaking down exogenous added collagen, CAP Skin fibroblasts can then be stimulated to make collagen, and assays developed to measure additives that stimulate collagen - a key property of "anti-aging" therapies.
